DEVOTIONAL
We live in a generation where comparison has become almost unavoidable.Through social media, we constantly see someone else's achievement, lifestyle, ministry, business, marriage, appearance, or success.
The temptation is subtle: “I must do better than them. I must have more than them. I must become greater than them.” But the Kingdom of God does not call you into a life of rivalry.

You were not created to spend your strength trying to outshine another person. Your greatest competition is the person you were yesterday.
Jesus never taught His disciples to measure their worth by comparison. He taught them to love. John 13:34 says, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” Agape does not rejoice when another person falls so that it can rise.
Love celebrates another person's progress while remaining committed to its own growth. There is room in God's Kingdom for your light and another person's light to shine simultaneously.
Think about an athlete training for a race. At the beginning, the runner may not be the fastest person on the track. But every training session has one fundamental question: Am I becoming better? The Christian journey is similar.
You are not called to become someone else; you are called to become everything God designed you to be. Paul told Timothy, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God” (2 Timothy 2:15). Notice that the standard was God's approval—not another person's applause.

The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a reason.
There is something powerful about discovering your own race. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:24, “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” Your assignment is not to run somebody else's race. Their gifts are theirs. Their timing is theirs. Their journey is theirs.

You have your own measure of grace, your own calling, your own opportunities, and your own responsibility before God.
So compete with yourself. Read more than you read yesterday. Pray more sincerely. Love more deeply. Serve more faithfully. Develop the gift God placed inside you. Correct what needs correcting.
Grow where you have been stagnant. If yesterday you were easily offended, become more patient today. If yesterday you procrastinated, take action today.

Probably fear controlled you yesterday, take one courageous step today. The goal is not to defeat another person; it is to defeat the limitations that keep you from becoming who God called you to be.

Father, IJN: Deliver me from unhealthy comparison and the desire to compete with others. Teach me to celebrate others while faithfully pursuing my own assignment.
Father, IJN: Give me grace to recognize the gifts You have placed in me and discipline to develop them. Help me become all You have designed me to be.
Father, IJN: Help me to examine myself honestly, grow daily, and walk faithfully in the race You have set before me.
