DEVOTIONAL
The Lord Jesus did not hide the enemy’s mission from us. In John 10:10 the Bible says, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Notice that word “cometh.” The devil is always on assignment. His priority is destruction, and your destiny is his target.
But here is wisdom: Satan is a spirit and does not always appear with horns and a tail. He deploys agencies. These destiny slayers are demonic systems and human vessels used to terminate what God planted in you. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." They operate remotely, yet they come close through people, situations, and appetites.

Think of Jesus in the wilderness. Satan came physically to tempt Him after 40 days of fasting, Matthew 4:3. The goal was simple: To shift Jesus off course before His ministry began. If Jesus could be slayed at the level of appetite, purpose would die before the cross. The same strategy was used against Joseph. Potiphar’s wife was not just a lustful woman. She was a destiny slayer assigned to abort the dream of Egypt.
Genesis 39:9 shows us Joseph’s guard: "How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" He was sober. He was vigilant. Many today are not. But know that casualness is the door through which slayers enter.
The words of Bishop David Oyedepo,
The devil is not afraid of a sleeping church, but he trembles at a discerning believer.
So how do these slayers operate against believers? Let me show you six ways, and how to stand:
1. Slayers Operate Through Distraction
A distracted man cannot discern. Samson’s destiny was to deliver Israel, Judges 13:5, but Delilah became the distraction that cut his hair and his calling. Distraction looks harmless at first. It is that relationship that takes your prayer time. It is that job that removes church from your week. Also, that phone that steals your Word study. The enemy does not need to kill you if he can distract you into irrelevance. A man without focus will donate his future to feelings. Guard your attention like Joseph guarded his garment.
2. Slayers Operate Through Temptation to Sin
Sin is the fastest route to abort destiny. David was anointed to be king, but adultery with Bathsheba opened the door for the sword to never depart from his house, 2 Samuel 12:10.
Every sin is a transaction. You trade destiny for pleasure. Portiphar’s wife told Joseph “lie with me,” but Joseph ran. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says God makes a way of escape, but you must take it. Slayers package sin as opportunity. If it costs your purity, your peace, or your prayer life, it is a trap, not a blessing.
3. Slayers Operate Through Wrong Associations
Let me ask - Who is in your circle? Listen, Amnon was David’s son and heir, but Jonadab his friend gave him counsel that led him to rape his sister and die by Absalom’s sword, 2 Samuel 13:3-5.

Slayers often wear the face of friends. Take note 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns, "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." Not everyone clapping for you is for you. Some associations are assignments from hell to slay your potential.
Audit your circle. Destiny cannot rise with dead weight on your shoulders.
4. Through Discouragement and Weariness
Elijah had just called fire from heaven, yet one threat from Jezebel sent him into the wilderness asking God to take his life, 1 Kings 19:4. That is how slayers work. They wait until you are tired, then whisper “quit.”
Ministry gets hard, school gets tough, business dries up, and the voice says “God has forgotten you.” But Galatians 6:9 says, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Discouragement is a slayer that kills dreams before they manifest. Fight it with the Word.
5. Slayers Operate Through Ignorance
Hosea 4:6 cries, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." The enemy thrives where believers are casual about truth. If you do not know your identity in Christ, any label can become your destiny. If you do not know your covenant rights, you will beg for what is already yours.
Many are in bondage not because the devil is powerful, but because they are uninformed. Slayers love darkness because light exposes them. Read your Bible like your life depends on it, because it does.
6. Slayers Operate Through Premature Exposure and Pride
Uzziah was a king helped by God until he was strong, according to 2 Chronicles 26:16 "But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction." Slayers will push you into platforms you have no character to sustain.
They will clap you into pride so God resists you. Recall that James 4:6 says, "God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." Not every open door is God. Some doors are traps to expose you before you are built. Stay with God in the secret place until He announces you.
Beloved, your faith, your gifts, your potential, and your life purpose must be guarded. You are not fighting people. You are discerning operations. Be sober. Be vigilant. Jesus is your example. Likewise Joseph. The devil failed with them, and he will certainly fail with you if you stay on guard.
POINTS OF REFLECTION
1. Are you currently sober and vigilant, or have you become casual about the enemy’s devices around your destiny?
2. How have distraction, wrong friends, or discouragement tried to slay God’s purpose in your life this year?
3. What habit or relationship do you need to cut off today to protect the oil and calling of God upon your life?
PRAYER KEY POINTS
Father, IJN: I give You thanks because You have not left me ignorant of the devices of the enemy, and You have given me victory through Christ Jesus.
Father, IJN: Expose and uproot every destiny slayer assigned against my life, my family, and my purpose. Let their counsel be turned to foolishness.
Father, IJN: Baptize me afresh with the Spirit of discernment and discipline. I receive grace to stay sober, vigilant, and aligned with Your will all my days.
COMMIT TO MEMORY
"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Luke 10:19

ASSIGNMENT
Do a 3-day destiny audit. Write down:
1) One distraction to cut off.
2) One relationship to review or pause.
3) One spiritual discipline to restart, such as daily Word or prayer.
Begin immediately, do not postpone obedience.
Also, share this teaching with one person whose destiny you are burdened about.
When Jesus is at the center, destiny slayers lose their power, because a man in whom Christ dwells cannot be stranded.
