DEVOTIONAL
There is a difference between what you do to earn a living and what you were created to accomplish with your life. Your job may occupy your working hours, but your purpose gives meaning to your existence. A job can be a means of provision, while purpose is connected to divine assignment.
You can have a job and still feel that something deeper is calling you. That inner longing is sometimes the evidence that there is more to your life than your present occupation.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 says that God has “set the world in their heart.” What a mystery! God placed within humanity a sense of eternity, significance, and divine possibility. This does not mean every desire automatically comes from God, but it reminds us that we were designed for something beyond mere survival. Jesus said, “Ye are the salt of the earth” and “Ye are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13–14). Salt influences what it touches. Light illuminates the darkness around it. Your life was designed to make a difference.
You may be sitting behind a desk, standing in a classroom, working in a shop, driving a vehicle, running a business, or serving in an office. That job is not necessarily your final expression. Joseph served in a prison before he served in a palace. While David tended sheep before he stood as king.

Your present workplace may actually be part of God's preparation ground. Ephesians 2:10 declares, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” There are works God prepared for you before you arrived at this stage of your journey.

You were made by God and for God—and until you understand that, life will never make sense.
This is why you must not despise the season you are in, but neither should you confuse your current position with your entire purpose. Your job can provide income while purpose provides impact. Your job may pay your bills, but your purpose answers the question, “Who am I sent to serve?” Look at your gifts, burdens, experiences, abilities, and opportunities. What problem do you repeatedly feel compelled to solve? What can you do that brings value to others? What has God placed in your hands? 1 Peter 4:10 says, “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another.” You are carrying something that was meant to serve others.

Child of God! You are not ordinary. There is something God wants your life to communicate to the world. Meanwhile — Do not resign from your job merely because you have discovered purpose; learn to recognize how your present assignment can become a platform for your greater calling. Your job may be where you work, but your purpose is why God put you here.

1. Have I mistaken my current job for the totality of God's purpose for my life?
2. What gifts, burdens, experiences, and abilities has God placed within me?PRAYER KEY POINTS
Father, IJN: Open my eyes to understand why You created me and the assignment You have ordained for my life. Help me see beyond my present occupation.
Father, IJN: Help me recognize and develop the gifts You have deposited within me. Let my abilities become instruments for serving others and glorifying You.
Father, IJN: Give me wisdom to faithfully serve in my present season while walking steadily toward Your divine purpose for my life.

ASSIGNMENT
Write down your three strongest gifts or abilities, then beside each one, write one practical way you can use it to serve or add value to another person this week.
Do not measure the significance of your life by the size of your platform. Measure it by the faithfulness with which you fulfil what God has placed in your hands.
