DEVOTIONAL
There is a secret hidden in the first verse of Psalm 91:1 God's covering is connected to where you dwell. The Bible does not say, “He that visits the secret place.” It says, “He that dwelleth.” Usually a visitor comes and goes, but a dweller makes a place his home. Majority of believers want God's protection, victory, favour, and greatness, yet God's invitation is deeper than simply receiving His benefits—God wants you to make Him your habitation.
Imagine a child walking through a dangerous place while holding tightly to his father's hand. The child's confidence is not based on his ability to fight every danger; instead, it is based on who he is walking with. This is the picture of abiding in God.

Jesus said, “Abide in me, and I in you” (John 15:4). Understand that the branch does not visit the vine when it needs fruit; rather it stays or remains connected. In the same way, your spiritual strength as a believer is sustained by remaining connected to Christ. The greatness that is sustained by God must be rooted in God's presence.
David understood this. In the middle of battles, responsibilities, enemies, and uncertainties, his deepest desire was not merely to escape trouble but to remain near God, Here's an affirmation: “One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life” (Psalm 27:4). David had discovered something powerful: That when God's presence becomes your dwelling place, His presence would become your confidence. This means -You stop living from one spiritual emergency to another because your heart has found its home in Him.

Abide in Christ, and He will abide in you.
The question now is, how do you dwell in God?
Let's look at this. The following are how:
- Cultivate a lifestyle of fellowship.
- Learn to Pray beyond emergencies.
- Read/Study the Word beyond obligation.
- Worship beyond church services.
- Obey God beyond convenience.
- Carry an awareness of Him into your ordinary moments.
Beloved, storms may come your way, but you do not have to be shaken. The secret is not in knowing how to escape every storm; it is knowing where to remain while the storm is raging. Psalm 46:1 declares, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Make God your refuge before trouble comes.
Make Him your dwelling before the battle begins. Stay in His presence when everything is calm, and you will discover that His presence remains your strength when everything becomes turbulent.

1. Am I dwelling in God's presence daily, or do I mostly visit Him when I have a need?

Father, IJN: Draw my heart deeper into Your presence. Teach me to dwell in You and not merely visit You when I need help.
Father, IJN: Let Your presence become my refuge and strength. When storms arise, keep my heart established and unshaken.
Father, IJN: Give me grace to abide in Christ, remain in Your Word, and cultivate a life of continual fellowship with You. Amen.
