DEVOTIONAL

I have noticed that many believers quietly struggle with a question they are often afraid to voice: “If I am truly born again, why do I still feel empty?”

The truth is this; your new birth is real, but your feelings are not always a reflection of reality. Salvation is not based on emotions; it is a spiritual transaction. Something real happened in your spirit, even if your mind and body have not fully caught up with it yet.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) says: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Notice, it didn’t say you will feel new, it says you are new. The emptiness many feel is often a result of not yet understanding or standing firmly in this truth. Meanwhile the enemy thrives on ignorance.

He suggests, “Nothing happened,” and because you are not yet established in the truth, you begin to agree with him. But God’s Word is final- your feelings must bow to it. Also, the Bible in Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV) reminds us, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing…”

God has already done a new thing in you. The problem is not the absence of God’s work, it is the absence of revelation and conviction of that work. At this point, understand this truth deeply by Kenneth E. Hagin,

You don’t grow by feelings; you grow by knowing.

Emptiness fades as knowledge grows. When truth fills your heart, emptiness loses its voice.

5 Biblical Ways To Overcome Emptiness

However, things may look to know it that God has not left His children without an escape, we are equipped to overcome. Though we wrestle not against flesh and blood, this is why our weapons of warfare are not carnal too, but they are mighty in God. Now let's see 5 ways to overcome the feelings of emptiness.

1. Stand Firm on the Finished Work of Christ

“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”Hebrews 10:14 (KJV)

Your salvation is complete, not partial. You are not becoming accepted; you are already accepted. When you stand on this truth, your confidence grows, and emptiness disappears.

2. Renew Your Mind with the Word Daily

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” Romans 12:2 (KJV)

Your spirit is already new, but your mind must be renewed. Emptiness is often a mind problem, not a spirit problem. As you renew your mind, your perception changes.

3. Develop Fellowship with God

“…truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:3 (KJV)

Child understand that isolation won't be of help, you overcome emptiness by fellowship, not isolation. Spend time in prayer, worship, and meditation. Relationship fills the void that religion cannot.

4. Refuse to Be Led by Feelings

2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight:”

Are you aware that feelings fluctuate, but the truth is constant? So, if you live by feelings, you will always feel unstable. But when you walk by faith, you remain grounded in God’s Word.

5. Speak and Affirm Your Identity in Christ

The Bible in Romans 10:10 (KJV has this to say, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Start declaring who you are in Christ daily. Speak life over yourself. Your words reinforce your identity and silence the lies of emptiness.
