The All Surpassing Power!

Scripture Text: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” - Luke 10:19 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL

Beloved, it is time for every child of God to awaken to the reality of what heaven has deposited within them.

The Scripture says in John 1:12 (KJV), “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” This means the believer is not powerless in this world. We are not victims of circumstances or captives of the darkness around us. We are children of God, carriers of divine authority, and ambassadors of heaven on earth.

Yet, we live in a generation where many chase after power from questionable sources. Some seek influence, wealth, and supernatural help from the god of this world who blinds the minds of many from the glorious light of the gospel. The hunger for power is real, but sadly many ignore the all-surpassing power that God has freely given in Christ.

The Word of God reminds us in Ephesians 6:12 (KJV) that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This means the battles of life are not merely physical; they are spiritual. The enemy operates through deception, fear, oppression, and destruction. Jesus Himself said in John 10:10 (KJV) that the thief comes “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”

But here is the good news: the power of God in the believer is far greater than the schemes of the enemy. When Christ rose from the dead, He did not only conquer sin and death; He also restored authority to those who believe in Him. The same power that raised Christ from the dead now works in us through the Spirit.

The words of Kenneth E. Hagin

The believer is not trying to get power; he already has the power of God within him.

Now, consider the moment when the seventy disciples returned to Jesus with joy saying that even demons were subject to them in His name. Jesus affirmed their victory but reminded them that the true power came from heaven. The authority we walk in is not self-generated; it is divinely imparted.

This is why the Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV), “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” Though we appear ordinary on the outside, we carry extraordinary power within.

The believer is a vessel through which God displays His victory over darkness.

Beloved, never forget this truth: all spirits are subject to the authority of Christ in you. When you stand in faith, speak the Word, and walk in obedience to God, the enemy cannot prevail against you. The all-surpassing power of God is not meant to remain dormant; it is meant to be exercised in faith, righteousness, and boldness.

In a morally decaying world, we must rise as lights, demonstrating that the power of God is still alive and working through His people.

2. Do you rely on God’s Spirit to lead your financial and life decisions?

3. Are you digging in the Word daily or expecting treasure without labor?
