Scripture Text: “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39 (KJV)

Dear Beloved, God never created us to live in anxiety, fear, or unrest. As His children, He desires that we dwell in peace, the peace that passes all understanding.

Yet, many believers today are troubled by storms of life -addiction, depression, health, finance, relationships, or uncertainty about the future. In all of these, the Lord is saying again to His people, “Peace, be still.”

We saw that when Jesus spoke those words in Mark 4:39, the sea obeyed Him, the winds ceased, and there was great calm. Even though his disciples had been afraid, forgetting who was in their boat. Many times, we too panic during life’s storms, not realizing that the Prince of Peace is with us.

To rest in God is not a sign of weakness or lack of action; it is the highest expression of your faith in the maker. True rest is saying, “Lord, I trust You completely."

God told the Israelites in Exodus 14:14, “The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” This means that when we stop striving in the flesh and choose to trust the Spirit of God, we make way for divine intervention. .

Know that the Lord cannot take over a battle that you keep holding on to. The key to victory is stillness, not inactivity, but trustful surrender.

According to Smith Wigglesworth;

Worry is faith in the negative; trust is faith in the positive.

Meanwhile, Jesus said in Matthew 11:28–29,“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest... and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” The peace Jesus gives is not the temporary calm that the world offers but a deep assurance that all things are working together for our good (Romans 8:28).

Now, the question then is: how do we know we are truly still and restful in God? Let’s look at four evidences that prove we have entered into His rest:

Related: God Is Near You

1. Confidence In God’s Word

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

When your heart is anchored in His promises, fear loses its grip. You are not moved by circumstances but by faith in what God has said.

2. Calmness In The Face Of Trouble

Psalm 46:10b says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness is not silence; it is assurance. You no longer react to storms in panic but respond in prayer and faith.

3. Thanksgiving In Waiting

According to Philippians 4:6–7,  We see that instead of murmuring, you should rather give thanks while waiting.  The reason is because gratitude is the language of trust, and it invites God’s peace to guard your heart.

4. Obedience Despite Uncertainty

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

You should be prepared to follow God’s direction even when you don’t understand it fully. Obedience is evidence that you have ceased struggling with His will.

Beloved, let it register in heart today, that rest in God doesn’t mean doing nothing; but it means doing only what He leads. The world may shake, but the one who trusts in the Lord remains unshaken. The Spirit of God within you is the calm amidst the storm. Therefore, let your heart hear Him today whisper again - “Peace, be still.”

POINTS OF REFLECTION

1. Do you rest in the Lord’s promises or still trying to fight your own battles?

2. How often do you silence your worries by declaring God’s Word over your situation?

3. Do you trust that the Prince of Peace is truly in control, even when you don’t see results yet?

PRAYER KEY POINTS

Father, IJN: Teach me to hand over every battle to You in full trust, knowing You will fight for me.

Father, IJN: Let Your peace rule my heart and mind, and let every storm in my life bow to the authority of Jesus.
