Scripture Text: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." - Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

It was Norman Vincent Peale, a renowned author and minister, who said,

Change your thoughts and you change your world.

This is because our words are a reflection of our thoughts, and they carry the power to shape our reality.

It's so obvious that in today’s world, negativity, fear, and doubt dominate conversations, often reinforcing defeat and hopelessness. But as believers, we are called to speak words of faith, rooted in God’s promises.

The Bible which is our creator's manual for a glorious life teaches us that our words hold tremendous power. The scripture text (Proverbs 18:21) likewise admonishes us that the tongue can bring life or death.

When you speak faith-filled words, you simply align yourself with God’s truth and release His power into your situations. In contrast, words of doubt, fear, and negativity can reinforce the enemy's agenda and hinder God’s work in our lives.

In Mark 11:23, Jesus said, "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."

Speaking faith entails bold declaration of God’s promises over your life and believing that He is faithful to fulfill His Word. However, in our present world, where uncertainties abound, it is easy to let fear dictate our words.

The Bible in Romans 10:17 reminds us, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

This implies that when you immerse yourself in Scripture, your heart gets filled with faith, and your words would naturally begin to reflect God’s truth rather than the world's fear.

Also, this Biblical principle is not about denying reality but it's about proclaiming God’s sovereignty over every situation of the believers life.

Therefore, beloved, when you are faced with challenges, you must choose to declare, God is my provider,” instead of saying, “I will never have enough.”

In sickness, you must proclaim, “By His stripes, I am healed,” rather than saying, “I will never recover.”

As believers we should commit to speaking words that build faith, glorify God, and inspire hope in others.

Understand that your words are seeds; when you speak faith, you plant seeds of life that yield blessings for yourself and those around you.

Mark 4:14  tells us, that, "The sower soweth the word."

POINTS OF REFLECTION

1. Are your words in agreement with God’s promises or with the fears and doubts of the world?

2. How can you train yourself to speak faith even in challenging circumstances?

3. What Scriptures can you proclaim daily to strengthen your faith and encourage others?
