The Indestructible Life!

Scripture: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” –John 1:12–13 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL

There is something glorious about your life in Christ that you must never forget: you are born of God! Your natural birth came through human parents, but your new birth came through the Spirit of God. Your origin in the natural may be traced to your family, your environment, or your history, but your spiritual identity is rooted in God Himself.

You are not merely an improved version of your old self; in Christ, you have received new life. 1 Peter 1:23 declares that we are “Born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” Think about that! Your new life comes from an incorruptible seed. The world around you may change, people may disappoint you, and circumstances may shake you, but God's life and Word remain unchanging.

What does it mean to possess the indestructible life? It entails that the life you have received in Christ is not sustained by human strength alone. The very life of God has been imparted to you through the new birth.

Hebrews 7:16 speaks of “the power of an endless life.” This verse refers specifically to Christ's priesthood, yet it reveals a wonderful truth about Him: His life is not subject to the limitations that govern mortal humanity. Through His resurrection, Jesus conquered death, and everyone who belongs to Him shares in the hope of His victory.

Imagine a tree standing beside a river during a dry season. Other plants wither because their supply of water has disappeared, but the tree with deep roots continues to draw nourishment. Jeremiah 17:7–8 uses a similar picture of the person who trusts in the Lord. Your confidence is not that storms will never come, but that your life is rooted in the faithful God who sustains you.

The words of Kenneth E. Hagin,

The Name of Jesus is the key that unlocks the treasures of heaven.

This statement reminds us to look beyond our human limitations to the authority and sufficiency of Christ. The foundation of your confidence, however, is not a famous teacher's words but the finished work of Jesus. Romans 8:11 says that the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in believers and gives life. Therefore, do not allow fear, condemnation, or past failures to become the voice that defines you.

When sickness, opposition, or disappointment comes, stand on God's promises, seek wise help when needed, and keep walking in faith. Indestructible life does not mean your physical body cannot suffer or die; it means death does not have the final word over those who belong to Christ. Your eternal life is secure in Him.

So, child of God, live today with the consciousness of your divine origin. You are born of God, not born again by human effort, and your life is held by the One who conquered the grave. Let this truth shape your speech, your decisions, your relationships, and your response to adversity.

You do not have to live as though defeat is your permanent identity. You may face battles, but you face them as one who belongs to the risen Christ. Walk in love, pursue holiness, renew your mind with Scripture, and let the life of Jesus be seen through you. The life of God in you is a reason for unshakable hope, not a promise that you will never experience hardship.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. Do I truly see myself as someone born of God, or am I still allowing my past to define me?

2. How can the resurrection life of Christ change the way I respond to fear and adversity?

3. What practical step can I take today to live more consciously in my new identity in Christ?
