Secret Cult Or Secret Place?

Scripture Text: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” – Psalm 91:1 (KJV)

I read of this very story not quite long ago, of a young student who was lured into a campus cult with the promises of wealth, protection, and influence.

Well, at first, as usual everything seemed glamorous, gifts, recognition, and respect among peers. But with time, he discovered the dark side of his decision: sleepless nights, fear of enemies, strange rituals, and of course constant burden of hiding from the law.

The same very group that promised him freedom has practically enslaved him deeper in fear and bondage.

But when he eventually encountered Christ, he realized the difference between a secret cult and the secret place of the Most High.

The prince of the air, and god of this world, Satan, is cunning. Meanwhile, his agenda has not changed: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” - John 10:10a (KJV).

So, through cults, occult systems, and demonic associations, he deceives many with temporary wealth, fame, or influence. Yet, these supposed gifts, instead of joy come with sorrow, chains, and ultimately eternal destruction. The kingdom of Satan thrives on secrecy, manipulation, and fear.

However, our Father(God) offers us another kind of secret; the secret place. Unlike Satan's, this is not a man-made club but the dwelling of God’s presence.

Moreover to dwell in the secret place of the Lord is to abide under His protection, guidance, and peace. Unlike Satan’s counterfeit, the blessing of God adds no sorrow.

Proverbs 10:22 (KJV) assures us, that, “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

Beloved, the young generation of today is being blinded by the glitter of the world, they are unable to discern that not all doors are opened by God.

Also, that every association, group, or “brotherhood” outside Christ is a counterfeit of the secret place. The true place of power is in Christ Jesus.

It is In Him only, that you find lasting riches, eternal life, and peace that the world cannot give.

It was Leonard Ravenhill, who said,

The devil has no happy old men.

Beloved, it's all a choice to make. Therefore, choose wisely: Will you submit to the secret cult that enslaves, or the secret place that saves?

1. Am I discerning enough to know the difference between God’s secret place and the enemy’s counterfeit?

2. Do I seek safety and provision in Christ, or do I chase temporary satisfaction from the world?

3. Have I made it a habit to abide daily in the secret place of prayer and fellowship with God?

PRAYER KEY POINTS

Father, IJN: Thank You for the safety, joy, and peace found only in Your secret place.

Father, IJN: Deliver me from every trap, deception, or counterfeit of the enemy seeking to lure me away from You.

Father, IJN: Plant my feet firmly in Your Word and presence, that I may never fall into the snares of Satan’s devices.

ASSIGNMENT

Examine the relationships, groups, associations, or influences in your life.

You should cut off every link with ungodly fellowships and recommit yourself to dwelling daily in God’s secret place through prayer, worship, and His Word.

Every cult is a counterfeit of God’s secret place; only in Christ do we find true safety, riches, and eternal life.
