A Persistent Prayer Life!

Scripture Text: "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."- Luke 11:9-10 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL

HELLO, beloved friend, have you previously had a time when you felt like you were stuck in your meeting with heaven? Exactly, me too. But guess what?

Our Lord and Savior - Jesus, gave us the ultimate hotline number, and He also encouraged us to keep knocking on that door.

In the above scripture text (Luke 11:9-10), Jesus lays it out plain and simple – ask, seek, knock, He seems to be saying, "Don't just leave a message and hope for the best; keep knocking until someone answers!"

Let's get it straight here, persistent prayer isn't about bugging the Almighty Father or turning requests into a wish list. It is comparable to when you are having a heart-to-heart discussion with your best friend. It is practically showing up, being honest, and not giving up even when it feels like the door is stuck.

Imagine you visited a friend's place, and they forgot you were coming. Do you only ring the doorbell once and leave? No way! You have to keep knocking until they open up.

That's the wisdom Jesus is laying down for you today. You continue knocking on God's door, it is not because He's forgetful, but because He loves it when we keep showing up. Hear what the master says to every believer;

"And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;" -Luke 18:1

This is not a presumption! Jesus promises that when we persistently ask, seek, and knock the door will certainly swing wide open.  God is not playing hide and seek; but He is bringing us into a real, ongoing conversation with him.

Sure, I know there are times when it feels like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling, but here's what you should learn today: God hears every word you speak, and He sees the persistence in your heart. Meanwhile, you should understand it is not about the eloquence of your words; but the sincerity of your heart. Here's what the Bible says,

"I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings." -Jeremiah 17:10

Therefore, let's be real about it. I know that sometimes life tends to get confusing, and prayer feels like a charade. In all of these Jesus tells us to keep knocking, and that's the game-changer.

Let's continue to approach God with the persistence of a friend who won't take No! for an answer. Because in the end, the door opens, and God is right there, ready to listen, comfort, and guide us.

Beloved, keep knocking, and watch how those doors will soon swing wide open.

The words of C.S. Lewis,

I pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God—it changes me.

POINTS OF REFLECTION

1. What usually stops me from praying consistently, and how can I remove that obstacle?

2. How have I seen my prayers change me or my situation when I didn’t give up?

3. What’s one small habit I can start today to make prayer a daily part of my life?

PRAYER KEY POINTS

Father, IJN: Thank you for the word of today. I worship you because you are supreme and always gracious to your children.

Father, IJN: Endue me with grace for persistent faith in my prayer life.

Father, IJN: Strengthen my spirit, soul, and body to be able to overcome every discouraging appearance of the devil from my communion with you.

COMMIT TO MEMORY
