Scripture Text: "My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body." - James 3:1-2  (KJV)

Beloved, I welcome you to another episode of THE LIVING BREAD, I pray and trust God that you will be immensely blessed by the message: WATCH YOUR TONGUE

The tongue is a powerful tool that can bring life or death, blessing or cursing. The Apostle James warns us that the tongue is a little member, but it can boast of great things (James 3:5).

In fact, James 1:26 says, "If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain." This means that our faith is not just about what we say we believe, but also about how we speak.

The Words of Joyce Meyer;

The words we speak are like seeds that we plant in the garden of our lives. If we plant seeds of negativity, doubt, and fear, that's what we'll harvest. But if we plant seeds of faith, hope, and love, that's what we'll reap.

Our words have the power to shape our reality and the reality of those around us.

In Proverbs 18:21, it says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." This entails that your words have consequences, and you must be careful about what you say. If you speak life, you will reap life. But if you speak death, you will reap death.

Words in this regard are likened to seeds. We reap only the Seeds that we sowed. Life is a seed, watch what you sow.

The good news is that we can learn to control our tongues and speak life-giving words. As James 3:2 says, "For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body." If we can tame our tongues, we can control our entire bodies.

I pray that we find grace to not only watch our tongue but speak gracious and edifying words at all times. Ephesians 4:29 says, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."

POINTS OF REFLECTION

1. Are you aware of the power of your words and the impact they have on yourself and others?

2. Do you find yourself speaking negatively or critically about others or yourself?

3. Are you intentionally speaking life-giving words that build up and encourage others?
