Welcome to THE LIVING BREAD and to another glorious day, as we look into the topic: SELF-WORTH OR NET WORTH?
Probably we have to be particular about answering a question and also creating distinctive difference between the both.
I believe you are very familiar with the both words, and they send signals of what each is capable of bringing in ones life, whether one or both.
I know that, the will of God supersedes every other thing in life, the Bible says you should “Glory not in men for all things are yours” and that a man can receive nothing except it is given him from heaven (above).
Now let consider the term Net-worth; our present world is in a big time chase, a chase for net-worth, that is, wealth amassing, crave for power, riches and fame.
This is because in the world you are measured by how much you are worth, and then, if you got no money and assets you are worth nothing.
As such you don’t have a say, and this has lead to high level greed, covetousness and envy, because how the wealth is eventually made has no meaning; whichever way it comes, as long as gains and riches are accrued.
Net-worth notwithstanding is a wonderful gift of God. It is the Father's will that through prosperity the kingdom should spread to all Parts of the globe. As such he empowers and helps in whatever our hands find to do, in order to contribute to his kingdom. He desires that we grow and prosper in a righteous way.
However, He doesn't want us to worship mammon or the hand made of man . Money is man's idea. It's man's invention. Mammon is the spirit that controls the realm of money in this world. Unlike in the Kingdom where all power has been given to the Son, who also relinquished it to the church (you and me). Hallelujah! This is a glorious testimony.
Yet, the world chase wealth by all means, with their entire power and might, the reason for all forms of evil and greed, which are contrary to the will and purpose of God.
No wonder the Bible says, “ye lust and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war, yet ye have not because ye ask not” - James 4:2
So, you should always watch out, and be aware of what drives your life, per time. If your priority in this world is Net-worth and riches, then you should understand that it is satanic and an evil desire. The Bible says we should seek first the kingdom. By implication, the kingdom should be your prior drive, your first goal.
Anything before it, is contrary and evil.God must take the first place in our lives, not things, not money, not our wife, and not our beloved children.
Well, I still hold the belief, that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being rich, but not when it has become a reason to fight, kill, greed, envy and disarray.
All good success, riches and good things comes from above and not from man, a chase for net worth therefore is unscriptural. Solomon sought for wisdom and was made wealthy by God.
Here's Solomon's request when offered an open check by the LORD, "Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?" - 1 Kings 3:9
Every child of God should be on the watch out, because when your greatest crave is wealth in these world the enemy makes it a snare to trap you. Lot of young men and even women everywhere even Christians due to net worth are daily falling victim to the enemies tricks to their destruction.
Since by the world’s system only material acquisition and money brings you fame, power and recognition, and nothing else, no eternal value in the kingdom. But in God’s kingdom you are blessed to be a blessing, it is not so in the world; it's a sole blessing, for them alone
The world believes in the visible than the will of God, 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him”
They can't receive the things of God’s spirit, because it makes no meaning, but that of the prince of this world - the devil, they receive and believe as it assures them of fame, recognition and every cruel dimension for earthly riches.
These are given , at a cost, usually in exchange for their soul. Net-worth and wealth is God given, but shouldn’t be a run after, because “God makes rich and adds no sorrow to it”.
Jesus during one of his teachings had an encounter concerning this same matter, (see Luke 12:13-15), “And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
In verse 15 it says, “And he said unto them, take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance (net-worth) of the things which he possesseth.”
Also, in Luke 12:16-22,
Jesus told them a parable of a very wealthy man who has net-worth; and very rich in the world, but lacked relationship with God (self-worth), and also about his miserable end, he died a failure!
God did not put us here for wealth and riches, He put us here to prepare for eternity in heaven, an eternal loving life.
I ask: What use is great wealth without eternal impact?
I won’t overrule the fact that Jesus desires that we become prosperous and of course, that is essentially one of the Will of God. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
There is no way you put the cart before the horse.
Self-worth is prerequisite for the fulfillment of every plan of God; this is about your attitude and personal relationship with God.
David said, “I am more wiser than my enemies because your testimonies are always with me” - Psalm 119:98. If you are rich in God there is no way you won’t be empowered for wealth in the world.
The Bible says “Remember the LORD your God for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.” - Deuteronomy 8:18,
When God’s will is always in-view in your life ,God will make happen his will for you.
What you are in God determines what you become in life, when you submit to His instructions, and meditate daily on it, your mind gets renewed and transformed.
You are then built up for success and prosperity as you observe to do, that is by “working the word”, (see Joshua 1:8). This is how Abraham became rich, Solomon, and all that prospered in the account of the scripture, and not by power or might; the world’s system, that leads to futility, and dead end.
The scripture is for our example and learning, it is for our spiritual growth and consequently for determining our worth in life.
Every born again child of God is ordained for great wealth, it is their heritage in redemption, "Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing."- Revelation 5:12
The Son - Jesus Christ, became poor that you may be rich here in the world, "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich."- 2 Corinthians 8:9
Kingdom Wealth is your heritage in redemption, your legal right, as such not to be lobbied for by glorying in men. Great wealth is God’s will, not mere net-worth! A chase after the wind!
Beloved! Today understand that you were called to be in conformity to God's begotten Son, nothing should take the place of love for God in your life, don't be conformed to the world.
