Scripture Text: "But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day." - Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)
In the above scripture text, God reminds His chosen nation, Israel to remember His provision and goodness. As they stand on the edge of the Promised Land,
He warns them against the dangers of forgetting that everything they have -wisdom, strength, wealth, and well-being, all comes from Him.
At this point Israel was about to inherit cities they did not build, vineyards they did not plant, and wealth they did not earn alone.
Here Moses reminds them in verse 18 that , "it is the Lord who gives them the power to get wealth".
This verse bears an important truth: It is God who gives us the ability and strength to create wealth and success, but it is principally for His purpose.
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
So, your ideas, skills, opportunities, and even your very breath come from Him.
When God blesses you with the ability to prosper, He does so to fulfill His covenant and to carry forward His plans.
You are blessed so that you can be a blessing, and that through your resources, God’s purpose might be established in the earth.
" For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:" - Colossians 1:16 (KJV)
What Does It Mean That God Gives Us The Power To Get Wealth?
It entails that every talent, knowledge, and the skill or ideas you have is a gift from God.
Understand that our heavenly Father does not give us physical money when we ask him for wealth, instead he bestows us with divine abilities for unlimited wealth creation, when we live in love and continuous obedience to his will for our lives .
God is a Creator, as children of God we also carry our Father's creative abilities, in the form of, ideas, gifts and talents.
All great visions are divinely endowed both to better humanity and for wealth creation.
Jesus attest to the Psalmist words, "ye are God". (See Psalms 82:6, John 10:34-35)
Do you know that the scriptures cannot be broken.?
That means God Cannot Lie!
It is easy to fall into the mindset that you are self-made and to take credit for your success.
That's why you need to take note of this caution:
"For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou gry, as if thou hadst not received it?" - 1 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV)
Every thing you have was given.
Meanwhile, Moses’ reminder calls us back to humility: we must remember that wealth is a tool entrusted to us, not a source of identity or self-worth.
You are steward of whatever gifts or talent that you have been given, and your resources are not simply for your comfort but for the advancement of His Kingdom.
Beloved! Let's acknowledge that even though it is God who gives us the power to get wealth, that wealth itself is not the end goal; it is only a means through which God accomplishes His purposes.
When we view wealth as a way to support His work - helping others, supporting ministry, and promoting justice and love, then we align ourselves with God’s purpose.
God blessed you so that you can extend His blessings to others thereby advancing His Kingdom, this is His ULTIMATE PURPOSE.
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." - Matthew 6:10 (KJV)
