DEVOTIONAL
There are moments in life when everything around you seems to change. People make promises and forget them. Circumstances shift. Doors close. Plans collapse. Even your own strength can fail you. But there is One whose character does not change with circumstances— the Covenant-Keeping God.
When God enters into covenant, He does not relate to you according to the instability of human emotions. His faithfulness rests upon who He is. What He has spoken, He has the power and integrity to perform. Faithful is He that called us who will also do it, God is not a man.
Think of Abraham.
God promised him a son when natural circumstances seemed to argue against the promise. Years passed, but God's covenant did not expire with time. Romans 4:20-21 (KJV) says Abraham “staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief” but was “fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Perhaps you are standing between a promise and its fulfillment today. Do not mistake delay for denial. The God who remembered Abraham has not forgotten you.
The covenant is ultimately demonstrated in Christ. God did not merely speak about His love; He demonstrated it by giving His Son. In Christ, we see the seriousness of God's commitment to redeem humanity. Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) declares, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Your circumstances may have changed, but Jesus has not. Your feelings may fluctuate, but His faithfulness remains. Your grip may become weak, but His covenant hand does not let go.
The words of Charles Stanley:
God is not looking for perfection in us, but He is looking for faithfulness to Him.
When you understand God's covenant nature, prayer changes. You stop approaching Him as though you must convince Him to care about you. You come with confidence because His Word has already revealed His heart. Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV) reminds us, “It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed... They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Every morning is another testimony that God has not abandoned His covenant.
So, when the night is long, remember His covenant. When the answer seems delayed, remember His covenant. When you have failed and feel unworthy, run back to His mercy rather than away from His presence.
PRAYER KEY POINT
Father, IJN: Thank You for being the God who keeps covenant and never abandons Your people. Thank You because Your faithfulness is greater than my circumstances.
Father, IJN: Help me to trust Your Word when I cannot yet see the manifestation. Give me grace to wait without abandoning faith.
Father, IJN: Strengthen my heart to walk faithfully with You. Let Your covenant mercy speak over every area of my life where I need Your intervention.
